In March 2008, Keswick Developments Pty Ltd gained the parent leasehold of Keswick Island. After stringent reviews of their financial and managerial capabilities, the Queensland Government approved their custodianship.
Keswick Developments is steering medium-scale development on the island, created in harmony with native habitats and features. Committed to sustainable development, they embrace Keswick's inherent natural beauty and see its preservation as vital in the long-term success of the investment.
They are working closely with key stakeholder groups such as the QPW (Queensland Parks and Wildlife), GBRMPA (Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority), the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA), Mackay Regional Council and Mackay Tourism, as well as the island’s current owners and residents, to create a cohesive, long-term development plan.
The Group has invested considerable resources into Keswick Island's continued improvement. Upgraded public access, contractor’s accommodation, the appointment of critical staff including an experienced Island Manager and maintenance crew, plus detailed planning is ongoing.
